Examples of Reasonable Accommodations for Various Disabilities
- Provide handouts and overheads in large print or Braille
- Allow extended time on tests, quizzes, and exams
- Assist in finding qualified notetakers
- Allow students to tape record lectures
- Allow testing in low distraction rooms
- Allow students to write on exams rather than scan sheets
- Provide ample information for obtaining text books on tape
- Accommodate sign language interpreters in the classroom
- Provide closed captioned films
- Utilize an assistive listening device
Accommodations are determined individually to meet the needs presented by the student's disability/disabilities. Professors are not required, however, to make accommodations that contradict stated objectives of a course.
