Procedure for Requesting Housing Accommodations

Student Responsibilities:
  1. Follow necessary procedures to apply for residence hall living through the University Housing Department.
  2. Register with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) by following the appropriate DRC procedures (see procedures at the Disability Resource Center's web page at http://www.drc.uga.edu/ ).
  3. Provide documentation to verify disability and support request for accommodations in housing.
  4. Discuss the requested accommodations with your disability specialist.
  5. If the request is approved through interdisciplinary team staffing, the DRC will send a memo to University Housing outlining the recommended accommodations.
Disability Resource Center Responsibilities:
  1. Disability specialist will present student's request, along with documentation, to other professional staff at the interdisciplinary team staffing to determine if request is an appropriate accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  2. If approved, provide memo outlining the recommended accommodations to the appropriate contact at Undergraduate Housing or Family Housing and Graduate Apartments Office.

Note: Letter in support of housing accommodations from the DRC will not override the policies of any particular agency, office or department.
